Brief Overview of Spectres Past

SSpectres of Benton County Past is a county-wide clue hunt mystery featuring the rich stories of Benton County’s captivating history told through the voices of its colorful residents from centuries long spent.

The first Spectres experience was kicked off in 2021. Players explored local historic sites including the Benton County Courthouse and the Grange on Greenberry Road; they met folks like Frank Clayton and George Davis, dubbed the “bungling robbers.” (These two characters might have gotten away with their pilfered loot, save for one small thing - the Chief of police discovered their pawn claim stubs lying around the messy burglars' abandoned campsite.) Spectres’ spectres speak to the players through a series of riddles and a variety of puzzles, each revealing clues to pieces of the story. Players are guided by voices from the past to each destination in the game, leading them to discover the alluring history of this county in the Pacific Northwest.

The Benton County Historic Resources Commission re-engaged Conundrum House to create their 2nd season of Spectres, the development of which is currently underway.

This year the 5 locations include the Whiteside Theater, obgu pnzchfrf bs gur Oragba Pbhagl Uvfgbevpny Zhfrhz, Fnpxrgg Unyy ba BFH’f pnzchf naq gur Havba Przrgrel va Cuvybzngu.
